Events and Social Responsability

Under the theme “Mozambique, a story of growth”, Standard Bank held on 18 April at the Hotel Polana in Maputo, the usual Economic Briefing, to provide its clients and the national market with trends of the national and global economy in order to guide them in decision making, in addition to show the “expertise” of the Bank in various specialty areas.

Standard Bank was represented at the conference by a stand to promote and sell products and services. The conference was on “Opportunities of credit for investment in SMEs-Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and the role of insurance,” which occurred on April 18, at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre in Maputo.

Diverse sports equipment was offered on 12th April to primary and secondary schools of the city of Matola, in Maputo province, that have participated in the first edition of the Standard Bank Children’s Tournament during the months of February and March.

As part of its sponsorship in Moçambola, the first Division of National Soccer League, Standard Bank awarded prizes, on March 8, to the teams of the Maxaquene Sports Club (1st place) and the Ferroviario Club of Beira (2ndplace), with checks in the amount of 600 thousand and 150 thousand meticais respectively.

The 1st edition of the Standard Bank Children’s Tournament ended, Saturday, March 9, with the achievement from the Complete Primary Schools of Sikwama, Matola “J” and Mussumbuluco in the city of Matola, as the big winners of the event, in men, in the categories of Traquinas (aged between 8 and 10 years), Benjamins (from 11 to 14 years of age) and Petizes (aged between 6 and 7 years), respectively.

In an initiative integrated in the corporate social responsibility context, Standard Bank has offered a total of 200 kits, consisting of several toys, and an equal number of baskets containing basic foodstuffs essential to sick children and their caregivers in the various wards and services of the Jose Macamo General Hospital, in Maputo.

The first of the two days dedicated to Young Designers on Mozambique Fashion Week (MFW), the most important fashion event of the country, was remarked by an innovative contender named “Dress me according to Standard Bank”.

O Standard Bank foi distinguido, no decurso da V Gala Nacional de Educação, ocorrida, na sexta-feira, 23 de Novembro, em Maputo, como uma das instituições que mais se destacou na luta pelo desenvolvimento da educação em Moçambique, ao longo do corrente ano.

Standard Bank, the only commercial bank with over a century in Mozambique, officially reopened its branch in Beira, city of the central Mozambican province of Sofala, on November 9th, 2012.The extensive effort to rehabilitate the agency is estimated at one million U.S. dollars and lasted 10 months.
