Standard Bank supports Para-Olympic athletes
The training of athletes and delegation members of the Para-Olympic Committee that will represent Mozambique at the Paralympics in London scheduled for 29 August, started in Maputo on July 24.
The training is sponsored by Standard Bank, a financial services provider that has conducted several activities for the development of sports in Mozambique.
Members of the delegation of the Para-Olympic Committee will be trained in English language and cultural orientation in order to allow them a quick and effective setting in London.
Speaking at a press conference, the representative of Standard Bank, Abdul Razac said that “to sponsor the training of athletes who will represent Mozambique in the Para-Olympic Games in London is a way to help the country have an excellent performance in the games”.
On the occasion, the President of Mozambique’s Para-Olympic Committee, Farida Gulamo considered the Standard Bank’s gesture as very important, because “it is the first institution besides the Government which is providing concrete support in the preparation and implementation of activities for the Para-Olympic Games”.
The training session will last for two weeks and is provided by the British Council and benefits a total of 12 people, including athletes, guides, coaches, medical personnel and government representatives.
“I hope this preparation allows the Mozambican team to engage the most, showing its skills and enjoy the best of its experience in London” – said Alan Rutt, Director of the British Council in Mozambique.
