Sponsorships

Sponsorships are a valuable part of Standard Bank's social responsibility and marketing communication strategies.

Sponsorships energise our brand, making it more visible, interesting and relevant. And in so doing, they make communication efforts more effective.

As a Mozambican bank, we support sponsorship opportunities that have a national impact. Our sponsorships are focused on cricket (limited overs), the arts (visual and performing) and music, including jazz.

Standard Bank in the fight against the HIV Aids pandemic

With the main topic “The attitude makes the difference, use the bridges of hope”, Standard Bank is developing a program for the prevention and treatment of HIV-AIDS, including tuberculosis, malaria and cholera, as a result of the repositioning that this bank has just assumed in the market, as a strong ally of the communities in the fight against the epidemics that mostly affect them.

According to Isabel Bretes from Standard Bank Mozambique, the campaign comprises three stages, that are oriented, namely: to a change in attitude, safe sex, testing and education, that are all related to prevention, abstinence and faithfulness.

In the scope of this program, posters and roll-ups are being placed on all of the Bank’s branches, including banners with the “AIDS” inscription written with condoms, where it is invited to employees, clients and public in general to take the condoms and use them appropriately, in order to bring the pandemic of the century to an end. “This program is already a reality here at the Bank, because we can already observe pamphlets in the different branches, among other informative material about AIDS”, said Fernando Chicala, an employee from Standard Bank, when asked to talk about the project. He further explained that all the employees are taking part of the process, which can be considered positive. Relatively to the fact that the program also involves the public in general, Chicala stated that it was a praiseful initiative, because the HIV-AIDS problematic is not only a concern of Standard Bank, but also of the whole society”. The institution has been guaranteeing medical assistance and medicine supplies to all infected employees, including their family, what leaves us in a comfortable position”, highlighted Chicala, further stating that “we, the employees, feel honoured with the HIV-AIDS campaign, since it shows the Bank’s commitment with public health”.
