Education

Education is the basis for the development of communities, and with this concern and with a view to providing newly graduated young people with professional skills and competences, in 1997 Standard Bank launched its Graduate Development Programme, an initiative that spans 12 months and has already benefited approximately 400 youths to this day.
Standard Bank helped to build the new Education and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Citizens (Centro de Educação e Reabilitação de CidadãosInadaptados, “CERCI”) that was inaugurated in October 2016.
After the construction of the school, the Bank also embarked on the project “Embrace a Room”, which basically consists in being responsible for the activities of a certain classroom.
CERCI is a not-for-profit association created on 21 May 2002 by a group of parents of children with special educational needs, together with technicians and experts in this field, and its purpose is to support the development of its users and integrate them in society. The users suffer from conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, hydrocephaly, microcephaly and Down syndrome.
