Sports

For Standard Bank, sports are a privileged platform to tighten social bonds of friendship, making it possible to share feelings and give our employees the sensation of belonging to a group, besides the health benefits resulting from physical activity.

The Bank’s commitment to the development of Mozambican football was reflected, in 2011, in the maintenance of the sponsorship agreement existing between this banking institution and the Mozambican Football League, with a view to supporting Moçambola – the main national football competition.

Tennis is another pillar to which Standard Bank pays particular attention in Sports, in which it has had three important competitions since 2010, namely two Futures for men and one Seniors for Women.

Futures count for international ranking (ATP Ranking) and are part of the International Tennis Circuit (ITF Men’s Circuit), in addition to being recognised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

The purpose of the largest tennis tournament in Mozambique is to foster this sport in the country and falls within the support given by Standard Bank to national sports. To this end, it organised a Tennis Clinic in Pemba during the national School Games Festival, which benefited approximately 200 children of that city.
