The Environment

As a way to compensate communities for the paper it uses for its activities, in 2019 Standard Bank launched its tree planting project, having succeeded in the first year in planting approximately 2,500 (two thousand five hundred) trees in the Provinces of Maputo and Sofala.
The bank reiterates its commitment to the implementation of this project with regard to the protection of the environment.
In September 2015, Standard Bank joined the Gorongosa Business Club, whose purpose is to encourage and involve the Mozambican business community operating in Mozambique in the noble effort to restore one of the most famous parks in Africa and the world.
With its membership, the bank will more specifically support the wildlife recovery programme in the Gorongosa National Park, in concrete the Gorongosa zebra (whose scientific name is Equus quagga crawshayi), a flagship species that plays a significant role in terms of tourism and in the park's ecosystem and is currently threatened with extinction.
