Christmas with children

4 January 2018

Children hospitalized at the nursery and wards of the Paediatric Services of José Macamo General Hospital (HGJM) benefited, on December 22nd, from a snack and basic foodstuff offered by Standard Bank, under the initiative “Christmas for Patients”,integrated as part of the corporate social responsibility of this financial services provider.

It is an initiative promoted for the eighth consecutive year in that hospital and which aims to provide moments of joy to the hospitalized children and their caregivers and with them celebrate the Family Day.

In addition to the snacks and baskets with various food and hygiene products, the children received toys, T-shirts and, above all, the care and affection of the Standard Bank staff.

According to Standard Bank head of Marketing, Alfredo Mucavela, this initiative aims to provide moments of joy and promote the physical and mental well-being of children hospitalized in various health facilities in the country.

“With this initiative, we want to tell the children and parents that they can count on us. We know how difficult it is to be in this situation, whether being in the position of a patient or a caregiver, and we know that it is always possible to put a smile on the faces of these children”, said Alfredo Mucavela.

“It is gratifying to see the children happy and smiling despite their condition. This is what motivates Standard Bank to promote this initiative in the province of Maputo
(José Macamo General Hospital) and in the cities of Xai-Xai, Beira, Tete, Nampula and Nacala”, he added.

Maria Safrina, director of the Paediatric Services of the HGJM, praised Standard Bank’s initiative, which she believes will support the medical team’s efforts to recover the children fast.

“It is a joy for the caregivers and doctors, who do everything for these children to get better and spend the holidays with their families”, she said.
