LMF distinguishes Standard Bank
Standard Bank was recognized by the Mozambican Soccer League through a certificate of merit during the Gala that marked the launch of Moçambola, 2014 edition, held in Maputo, on 11th March, as one of the companies that stood out in support of soccer.
On the occasion, the president of the Mozambican Soccer League, Simango Junior, thanked the support of Standard Bank and of other sponsors, and stressed that, “thanks to the support of these companies all the conditions have been created for a well-organized tournament”.
However, as a measure to help teams invest in soccer development, Standard Bank awarded, during the Gala, the current national champion, Liga Muçulmana, and the runner-up, Ferroviario da Beira, with checks valued at 600 thousand and 150 thousand meticais, respectively.
As part of Standard Bank’s support to Moçambola, the main national soccer competition, the Awards also aim to motivate teams to invest, with particular focus on training in order to reach higher levels.
Antonio Macamo, member of the Board of Directors of Standard Bank said related to the purpose of the initiative that, “Standard Bank supports the sport, particularly soccer, under its policy of corporate social investment for being an activity conducive to the development of excellent human values such as fair play and team spirit, both for those who practice it, as for the fans”.
Macamo added that Standard Bank believes that soccer is a great passion for Mozambicans, including its customers, “that’s why the support to Moçambola is a way to get closer to our customers”.
According to Momed Magda, board member of Liga Muçulmana, Standard Bank is to be congratulated for supporting the sport, particularly soccer. “The bank’s decision to support Moçambola is a welcome initiative”.
