Moçambola Sponsorship extended for five more years
On February 19th in Maputo, was held the Moçambola 2011 draw ceremony of the
main soccer competition in country, in a gala on which were present several sport leaders and representatives of all soccer teams in country, as well as Government officials.
During this event, the Managing Director of Standard Bank, António Coutinho, publicly assumed the Bank’s interest, to reaffirm the Moçambola sponsorship, for a period of five years, from 2011 to 2015.
According to António Coutinho, “enhancing the potential of Mozambican soccer, by creating conditions for players to fully commit themselves which will make the league more competitive”, still represents the Bank’s objective, therefore, for the 2011 season will be invested USD 150.000.
Antonio Coutinho, also believes that the investment in sports, and in Moçambola in particular, is a direct result of the “alignment between the objectives of Standard Bank, its customers and the public in general, through soccer, because this is the most popular sport in the country”, and further considering that the Moçambola sponsorship is a symbol of the Bank’s commitment to help develop soccer in the country."
Commenting on the statements of the Managing Director of Standard Bank, the President of the Mozambican Soccer League, Alberto Simango Junior, said that “signing a long-term Moçambola sponsorship agreement with Standard Bank, is a major gain for the Federation and it is an opportunity to ensure that this sport will continue to make a difference in the lives of all Mozambicans”.
Alberto Simango Junior also said that he is committed to “do everything possible to make Moçambola a reference at country and regional level”.
One of the highlights of the event, was the moment when the COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Standard Bank, Chuma Nwokocha, was invited to hand over the check in the value of 50 thousand MT to the team that won the Fair Play prize - Clube Ferroviário de Pemba.
