Sports mark celebrations for the 116th anniversary of Standard Bank

Standard Bank celebrated, on August the 20th,
116 years of its implementation in Mozambique, along July and August, through a sports tournament in basketball and indoor soccer, on which have participated several other Banks and companies.
The host of the tournament, whose finals were played last Saturday, was the big winner conquering the first place on all cities where the tournament was held, with exception to Beira where it occupied the third place and in Maputo, where it only got the first place in men´s basketball.
Speaking during the celebration, António Coutinho, Managing Director of Standard Bank Mozambique, said that '' there is no other Bank in the market that has been in the country for over 116 years, hence it is a very important anniversary and we celebrate fraternizing with other financial institutions through the practice of sports as it is good for health, especially for the employees''.
Throughout its 116 years in Mozambique, Standard Bank, according to the Managing Director, went through various challenges, '' the Bank has always been in this country, during the good and the bad times and we hope to stay here for 116 more years since the prospects are good, justified by the fact that the Mozambican economy is growing, to the point that more competitors are entering in the market '', said António Coutinho.
On his turn, the Director of Marketing for BCI-Banco Comercial e de Investimentos, Rui Ilhéu, which was present in the sports event, said he was happy with the participation of the Bank he represents, because the sports tournament was very competitive.
'' We must congratulate Standard Bank for the excellent organization, I believe that all teams enjoyed participating in this tournament marked by competitiveness and sportsmanship '', he explained.
BCI, Millennium BIM, Barclays, CIB - Commercial International Bank, Banco de Moçambique, ProCredit Bank, Banco Terra and First National Bank are all on the list of banks that have participated in the tournament of celebration of 116 years of what is considered the oldest Bank in Mozambique.
Organized at country level, with the objective of also promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyles, the Standard Bank sports tournament involved companies from other economic sectors.
