Standard Bank and Shell committed to the success of Mozambican SMEs
From 5th to 9th December of 2016 takes place in the city of Pemba, Cabo Delgado province, the Entrepreneurship Week, a Standard Bank’s initiative in partnership with Shell, ideiaLab and the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME).
The event, which aims to guide entrepreneurs to grow and consolidate their businesses, is aligned with the vision of all stakeholders, which is to create a favorable ecosystem for the emergence and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The initiative, which has the support of SOGA, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Provincial Directorate of Science and Technology, Higher Professional Techincal Education of Cabo de Degado, will hold two workshops that will be facilitated by the ideaLab, subordinated to the themes "Unleash Your Business", designed to guide entrepreneurs in the consolidation of their early-stage business and "Femtech Spark" for women entrepreneurs.
Commenting on the event, the Standard Bank’s Head of Personal and Business Banking Victor Jardim mentioned that "By collaborating to create additional networking opportunities, market access and mentoring for Small and Medium Enterprises - SMEs, we can have a much greater impact and reach."
"In this regard, Standard Bank and Shell are consolidating their efforts and resources, thus contributing jointly to the progress of the SME ecosystem," said Victor Jardim, to whom entrepreneurship, innovation and financial inclusion, are areas of great importance in Mozambique and in particular for the Bank.
Shell's representative in Mozambique, Alexandre Battaglia , said that “at Shell we are committed in supporting local companies for their success. It is a privilege for Shell to work with SMEs in Mozambique through the Entrepreneurship Week initiative in Pemba. We are very pleased to contribute to the national agenda for the development of SMEs in Cabo Delgado and we have the privilege of having partners so committed in working in order to develop entrepreneurship of women and young people.”
In turn, the General Director of IPEME, Dr. Claire Mateus Zimba, stated that "one of the meanings of the institution is to look at entrepreneurship as an opportunity to create and strengthen business and is guided by processes and facilitation of partnerships, so we assumes Entrepreneurship as one of our values. "
