Standard Bank consolidates relations with embassies and NGOs

17 April 2018

Standard Bank met, recently, with representatives of the main embassies and national and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in the country to present the solutions it has for this segment, as well as to consolidate partnerships with them.

In addition to providing traditional banking services, Standard Bank is prepared to support this segment, including public sector companies, schools and religious entities, in designing and implementing social responsibility initiatives, youth projects, entrepreneurship, gender, among others that will add value to these entities.

As explained by Sónia Cumbi, director of the unit responsible for this segment, Standard Bank offers special conditions for access to credit and other financial products to this group of entities and their employees.

“Standard Bank does not look at customers as such, but rather as partners. When it comes to a bank, what goes into people’s minds are transactions, money, etc., but we go beyond that. Our goal is to help our clients achieve sustainable growth and, by doing so, to consolidate our relationship”, said Sónia Cumbi.

“If needed, we will go to embassies, NGOs and other entities, to hear their concerns and, based on them, we suggest solutions,” commented Sónia Cumbi, adding that Standard Bank holds lectures on financial education at the client’s office as part of the advantages offered.

One of the entities that already benefits from this Standard Bank’s business approach is the Business Environment Improvement Fund (FAN), whose chief executive, Nuno Remane, believes that the bank helps to increase the capabilities of companies in general, and embassies and NGOs in particular.

“Our organization aims to contribute to the improvement of the business environment in the country, and this is only possible with the support of this type of services”, said the FAN executive director, who was seconded by Mércia Fernandes, representative of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Mozambique.

“Our experience has been good and this presentation served to show that there is still a lot to explore in our country. Financial empowerment and support for entrepreneurship are areas that interest us and, therefore, we will evaluate the possibility of investing on them”, said Mércia Fernandes.
