Standard Bank donates incubators to Jose Macamo General Hospital

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Standard Bank has proceeded, on 20th of August in Maputo, the formal delivery of two neonatal incubators and diverse hospital equipment to the paediatric ward of the Jose Macamo General Hospital, as a contribution of this financial services provider in the government’s efforts to help reduce child mortality in the country.

This initiative comes at a time when Standard Bank celebrates 121 years of implementation in Mozambique, anniversary to be marked on August 20th, reason why the offer of other neonatal incubators is scheduled for later this month, to the Tete Provincial Hospital and to the Nacala District Hospital, in the province of Nampula.

At the Jose Macamo General Hospital in Maputo, the Managing Director of Standard Bank, Chuma Nwokocha, listened about the new hospital needs in terms of equipment, in addition to assessing how the equipment offered by the bank will help the patients.

“With this offer, Standard Bank intends to support the Government in equipping our hospitals and in this case in particular, contribute to the reduction of infant mortality rates”, said Chuma Nwokocha, appealing to the cautious use of the materials donated so that they can serve many other children.

In turn, the Director of the Jose Macamo General Hospital, Leila Monteiro, said that the support from Standard Bank is of crucial importance for the paediatric service: “The equipment we received from the bank will contribute greatly to improving the quality of provision of medical care to patients, since we have had a great demand in the nursery”, said Leila Monteiro.
