Standard Bank encourages women empowerment and inclusion in the economy

As part of the celebration of Mozambican Women’s Day, Standard Bank’s Business Incubator hosted a motivational seminar, for business women or aspiring entrepreneurs.

Entitled “Women’s Leadership”, besides motivating women to invest in entrepreneurship, the seminar aimed to give visibility to their business and, by that, to extend their market access to business networks.

The seminar was promoted by ATITTUDE, a company that offers youth recruitment solutions for internship, permanent and temporary work programs, in partnership with Standard Bank, through the Business Incubator.

As explained by Sasha Vieira, head of Standard Bank Business Incubator, this event is part of the initiatives designed by the bank, aimed at the empowerment and inclusion of women in the economy.

“Standard Bank is committed to empowering women, which is an important step towards achieving this much-desired inclusive growth.

The inclusion of women in the economy will allow them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the country in several areas, but for that to happen, it is important that they learn leadership skills to lead”, said the head of the Business Incubator.

“The importance of this seminar is that it has brought in three business women who shared their stories, their journey in the business world, the obstacles and the challenges they faced, and this helps to inspire others to turn their ideas into business”, added Sasha Vieira.

In turn, Marlene de Sousa, executive director of ATITTUDE, considered that, through the sharing of business experiences by the speakers, the seminar “Women Leadership” will help women gain the courage to materialize their ideas.

“The speakers spoke about the obstacles and the opportunities that exist in the country and this made the participants aware that they have to be persistent and determined to be in the market”, said Marlene de Sousa.

The seminar had the participation of Gérsia Sequeira, ITIS (information and communication technologies), Márcia Maposse, BINDZU (agribusiness) and Tânia Americano, R&Y (human resources consultancy) as speakers.

Women entrepreneurship is part of inclusive growth, a cornerstone of all the activities of Standard Bank’s Business Incubator, which focuses on the inclusion of gender, youth and the informal sector.
