On Tuesday, April 23, Standard Bank inaugurated the Nampula branch, a modern infrastructure equipped with state-of-the-art technology, thus reinforcing its presence in Nampula city.

The branch, built in a large space, which offers better conditions to the clients of the bank, has seven tellers for fast service as well as several rooms for private service.

During the opening ceremony, the chairman of the Standard Bank Board of Directors, Tomaz Salomão, referred to the fact that the new Nampula branch is a symbol of the Bank's dedication and work to the development of the city and the entire province of Nampula.

“With this branch we intend to boost Nampula's economic life, boost the emergence of new businesses, provide resources for families to fulfill their dreams and also accelerate the financial inclusion of Mozambicans”, said Tomaz Salomão.

He emphasized that this investment made by Standard Bank in Nampula represents the renewal of the Bank's commitment to its customers, since this is a result of the customers' requests for a larger, comfortable and modern space.

According to the chairman of Standard Bank Board of Directors, Nampula is one of the most important centres of economic activity in Mozambique, and some of the most significant projects in Mozambique are located in this province.

“We are in this province to advise, finance and cooperate with all those who are committed to the generation of wealth and human development through the creation of jobs and implementation of social projects”, he stressed.

In turn, Chuma Nwokocha, the bank's managing director, praised Standard Bank's involvement in the development of Mozambique for 125 years, through the realization of several dreams.

“And, because Nampula is Mozambique, we opened this agency to fulfill the dream of the Nampula citizens of accessing credit, insurance, savings solutions and various other financial services in an easy, fast and safe way and thus accelerate the development of the province”, he said.

For Standard Bank, as mentioned by the managing director, this is a sign of development, with the objective of making available customized products and services in a comfortable way, with speed, simplicity and security.

Nampula province governor Victor Borges, who chaired the opening ceremony, said that the new Standard Bank branch reinforces the expansion of quality financial services in the province, and a growing closer presence of customers.

“We thank Standard Bank for opening another branch in Nampula city and we would like the bank to expand to other areas of the province”, he said.

In his opinion, the financial services provided by Standard Bank will help develop the diversified economic activity that characterizes the province: “Five years ago agriculture was the main activity, with a share of global production of about 50 to 52 percent”, he said.
