Standard Bank launches Quiqbanking
Standard Bank has recently launched a service named Quiqbanking, which allows several banking transactions to be performed using the mobile phone, even without airtime or internet connection.
This service, based on USSD technology, aims to serve customers in a global perspective, taking into account that not every customer has Smartphones and access to Internet.
Based on this technology, banking transactions are made via SMS, through any operator and device provider.
The launch of this service, according to Victor Jardim, the Director of Personal and Business Banking of Standard Bank, will allow Bank’s customers to make transactions and queries, using their mobile phone, through instant messaging, regardless of the type of device they have, being it a Smartphone or not.
"The main operations that can be carried out on Quiq are: Balance inquiry, inter Bank and intra bank transfers, transfers to m-pesa, payment of miscellaneous services with emphasis on water, electricity, television and also purchase of Internet, airtime and credelec vouchers, "said Victor Jardim.
This is another step in the digital journey that Standard Bank has begun in recent years, which is to improve its systems in order to simplify processes and also enable customers to have quick and instant access to the bank from Any place, through electronic platforms.
With the launch of Quiq, Standard Bank’s clients can now benefit from a wide range of electronic channels, including NetPlus (Internet Banking), NetPlus App (Mobile Banking), Digital Kiosks, ATM for deposits and a free 24 hours a day Customer Service Line, also accessible on holidays, through the number 800 412 412.
