Standard Bank reopens Branch in Beira
Standard Bank, the only commercial bank with over a century in Mozambique, officially reopened its branch in Beira, city of the central Mozambican province of Sofala, on November 9th, 2012.The extensive effort to rehabilitate the agency is estimated at one million U.S. dollars and lasted 10 months.
The architectural structure of the outer part of the building constructed during the colonial period did not suffer many changes due to the historical and cultural importance to the city.
It is a construction that provides an environment of comfort, flexibility, convenience and security to the Bank’s employees and the public in general.
The branch was rehabilitated in order to respond to customer demands. Therefore, a room for private deposits of large sums of money was created in the premises.
Before there was only one ATM, but the number was doubled which may help reduce the long queues experienced in all banks in the region, especially at the end of each month.
During the opening ceremony of the branch, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Standard Bank, Tomaz Salomão, said that the activities undertaken to expand infrastructures are a reflection of the extraordinary confidence that the bank deposits in relation to Mozambique. “This is a partnership that must continue for a long time”, - he added.
It’s important to highlight that in the context of creating greater convenience to customers and employees, Standard Bank also launched on the 8th of November the first stone for the construction of its new headquarters in Maputo.
