Standard Bank rewards best students from UEM

Standard Bank, as part of its graduate development programme

has offered to the top two graduates in Accounting and Finance and a third in Economics,checks amounting to 26 thousand Meticais each, in addition to their direct integration as employees of this financial services provider.This act took place during a graduation ceremony at the Eduardo Mondlane University, which occurred on 25th November. After handing of the awards, the Head of Human Resources at Standard Bank, Helia Campos, said “the offer is a symbolic gesture that the Bank has found to recognize the efforts made by the students during the courses”.

“For us, the money offered is not what´s most important, because we are aware of the difficulties that many students face after completing their studies, to join the employment market”, said Helia Campos, adding that “with this opportunity to work and at the same time,to be trained in our institution is for us a source of great satisfaction,because we feel that by doing this we are truly contributing to the development of the society”.

In turn, Loisse Edna, one of the graduates awarded, said she was “very motivated and satisfied” with the gesture of the Bank since she wasn’t expecting: “I do appreciate the privilege that Standard Bank is offering to me, of being able to progress in professional career in Accountancy and Finance”, Loisse Edna explained.Salmina Jafete also expressed her gratitude, considering the offer from Standard Bank as “a great achievement, because I believe it is the result of four years of dedication to studies”.

In 2011 UEM has graduated a total of 988 students. 932 of them were graduated with bachelor degrees while 56 of them achieved the master degree.
