Standard Bank to open a new branch in Pemba

Standard Bank is in the process of building a new branch in the city of Pemba, specifically in the Cariaco neighbourhood, as part of its branch expansion and modernization strategy.

The foundation stone for the implementation of this project was launched on March 21. The construction of this branch is also under the celebrations of 120 years of the establishment of this leading financial services provider in Mozambique, and aims to provide a more convenient space to provide better service, that is closer and will help grow the business of the Bank, and meeting the needs of customers more effectively.Speaking on the occasion, Tomaz Salomao, Chairman of the Standard Bank, said the construction project of the new banking unit in Pemba, also aims to answer the recurrent appeals by the Bank of Mozambique for the expansion of banking services, as well as encourage savings within the Mozambican families.As he underlined, with the new venture, Standard Bank shows that it is aware of the development potential of the province of Cabo Delgado, reinforced by the discovery of natural resources, hence its readiness to provide assistance and fund business initiatives.On his turn, the director of the Bank of Mozambique, Maria Guilhermina, said that the construction of the new branch of Standard Bank is an asset to the city of Pemba: “We are convinced that here a stunning building will emerge and it will bring about another image for the province, and particularly for the municipality of Pemba”, she said.Also according to Maria Guilhermna, Standard Bank is aligned with the principles of the Bank of Mozambique concerning the banking of the Mozambican economy, providing better quality of service to its customers.For the Councillor of the Area of Finance in the Pemba Municipal Council, Moniz Hassam, the construction of the new building of Standard Bank branch comes in good time, to modernize and enhance the urban infrastructural fabric of the city of Pemba.“This infrastructure symbolizes, much more than a building, the constant effort to modernize the services provided by the prestigious Bank, always with the aim to participate actively in the socio - economic development process of the province”, concluded the councillor.
